How to make Restaurant style Jeera Aloo / Aloo Jeera - Potato & Cumin Seed Recipe

The last two and a half months was very tough for all of us. Lock down in progress due to COVID-19 / corona virus pandemic spreading like anything. We all were locked inside our homes to be safe, all offices shut, all eateries shut, all restaurant shut, no where to go, only essentials were available.


However, this lock down also did taught us lot of things, the male members started cooking and helping the females of the house hold in different daily task.

In the midst of such scenario even the chef inside me was re-born, I started cooking and now am sharing those recipes with all of you, try it and let me know how did it tasted.

To make Aloo Jeera or Jeera Aloo you would require some ingredients, and do not worry it is a quick and easy recipe that anyone can make, anytime. Have it for dinner or for lunch that's your choice.

Ingredients:
  1. 2 table spoon desi ghee (clarified butter)
  2. 3 tea spoon jeera (cumin seeds)
  3. 2 tea spoon chopped adrak (ginger)
  4. 2 tea spoon chopped green chilly
  5. 1 cup of boiled aloo (potato)
  6. Salt as per taste
  7. 1/2 tea spoon haldi (turmeric) powder
  8. 1 tea spoon or pinch of amchur (dry mango) powder
  9. 1 tea spoon red chilly powder
  10. 1/2 tea spoon black pepper powder
  11. 3 tea spoon chicken masala (name is chicken masala, but it is vegetarian, check packet for green symbol)
  12. Some freshly cut or chopped coriander leafs / sprigs
  13. 20 ml water


How to make (Steps):

  • Heat a pan
  • Put desi ghee in the pan and let it heat
  • Put jeera in the desi ghee, roast the jeera until it starts popping
  • Now put the chopped ginger and green chilly and stir it for a minute
  • Then add the boiled Aloo (Potato)
  • Add the chicken masala, haldi powder, red chilly powder, black pepper, amchur powder and stir it
  • Add the freshly chopped coriander sprigs
  • Add salt to taste
  • Add very little water and stir properly for a minute.

Jeera Aloo is ready to be served, you can have it with rice or lachha paratha or bread of your choice.
