Garlic Bread is an old recipe from Italy. A simple anytime snack that was made from a sour dough topped with cheese and herbs like cilantro or parsley. This recipe is an easy tea time snack or served as starters during supper or compliments with spaghetti and is made in different ways. The bread is first cut into slices then topped with garlic, cheese, butter and herbs.
Known by different names in different countries. in Germany people call it KNOBLAUCH-BROT, whereas the french call it CHAPON.
Today I will share a quick shortcut recipe to make cafe style garlic bread, with you all. Let's Begin...
Ingredients & Steps:
- Take a big size burger bun
- Cut it horizontally into slices (you should get 4 - 5 slices)
- Get a ready made garlic butter (available in stores)
(TIP: Many brands have garlic butter with herbs, buy any one of them).
- Spread a generous amount on each slice, making sure they are evenly spread
(Note: Do not overload the slice with butter).
- Now mix 1 cup of cheddar cheese & 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
- Take a handful of both the cheese together and top up the slice
- Sprinkle little chilly flakes and oregano on top
Now take a deep fry pan with a lid.
- Place these bread slices inside the pan (Do not use any oil or butter to grease)
- Cover the pan with the lid
- Cook in low flame for 5 minutes
After 5 minutes of cooking, check if the pan side slice of the bread has turned brownish or not, if it has take it out and if not then cook for another 2 minutes or so.
- Then switch off your flame and leave it for another 2 minutes
Alternatively, you can use an oven also to cook or toast these garlic breads.
For this, you need to pre-heat your oven on toast mode in the highest temperature available for 10 minutes.
Place the slices in a baking tray and put it inside the oven.
It should take 8 to 10 minutes to cook / toast the bread slices, keep a check so that the slices do not burn.
Either way, Cafe Style Italian Garlic Bread is ready.
Sprinkle little chilly flakes and oregano on top, once again before you serve them and serve the garlic bread with a cheesy dip, jalapeno dip or mayonnaise dip.
