Wood apple grows in wood apple tree which are mostly found in Sri Lanka and India, thus wood apple is a native to Sri Lanka. In India wood apple is called "BAEL", pronounced as 'BELL'. It has a funky taste, a little sweet, a little sour and the seeds are all bitter. The sweetness comes from the accumulation of honey inside the wood apple fruit.
 
A must have drink during summer time. Bael or wood apple quenches thirst, gives a refreshing feeling and helps in clearing the stomach and detoxifying the body.

Ingredients & Steps: 
 
First thing that we need is a bael or wood apple. Break open the hard shell and carefully scrape the pulp from inside, remove any seeds, we do not want to have a drink that is bitter. 
 
Take a big bowl.
  • Add the pulp
  • Add 1 ltr water
Mash and mix the pulp in water.
Strain the juice.
Remove all the pulp and take the juice.
  • Add 4 tbsp sugar
  • Add 1 ltr chilled water
  • Add 9 - 12 ice cubes (crushed)
Mix well until sugar completely dissolves. 

Pour it in a glass, garnish with some mint leafs and serve it chilled before the ice melts. 
the aroma of this juice will refresh you, leave aside the juice all by itself. Enjoy this quick summer drink.
