2020, a bizarre year, a sad year, a year full of plague. A year which probably would be marked in history and would be penned down in books for generations to come.
At last, it is time to say good bye 2020. Today we stand on the last day of 2020, a bad year that went by and we thank God for keeping us safe, we also pray for the repose of all those souls whose journey ended in 2020. We pray for a good year ahead and welcome 2021 with a hope that things, everything will turn back to the normal scenario. The old normal, before it all started.
Let us now look back and see what all we went through in the year 2020.
The year 2020 started with a bad news. It was China who confirmed that a test they were conducting in a special medical center with bats, somehow had been released or leaked in the atmosphere. What was it? Yes, guys we all know it was the virus known as nCoV² which in generic is named as COVID - 19, more precisely CORONA VIRUS.
Corona Virus or CoV pre-existed before 2020, but while that special test in China was being performed, the virus mutated and became deadly and easily spreading. It was so deadly that on 11th March 2020 WHO or World Health Organization declared Corona Virus or Covid - 19 as a pandemic, because it started spreading from the city of Wuhan in China to all other countries, all over the world.
The virus was so deadly that it got transmitted and spreaded from human touch and sneezes and was able to get inside the victim's body quickly, killing the defense mechanism and ultimately effecting the lungs. Symptoms like fever, headache, cold, body pain, coughing and difficulty breathing were seen and diagnosed.
With no remedy or medicine in hand, even the doctors all over the world were on their toes, trying their best to cure Covid - 19 patients and fight this mutated enemy. The spreading was so quick that to stop it or slow down the spreading of the virus, different countries went for what is known as LOCK DOWN.
All countries went for nation wide lock down with everything closed and humans likely trapped inside their own house and homes, only urgent and emergency items like milk, medicines were allowed to be sold. Even the grocery store and vegetable market were asked to be kept open for a limited time only. It was like life came to a stand still. The lock down was stretched for 3 months and more with bizarre and negative impact on different economies around the globe.
This pandemic which came after 100 years showed the residents of earth on what bad can happen and yet we are fighting for survival and still waiting for the vaccine to come, we hope the year 2021 gives us the cure to this deadly virus and kills or finishes the virus once and forever.
Well, 2020 was not only about the pandemic or about the deadly Corona Virus, but 2020 showed us all more bad phases.
On one hand were the world was already fighting with Covid - 19, natural disaster topped the record bringing destruction and havoc to many different countries and cities. Many states in USA were hit hard by tornado and typhoons, then came AMPHAN, the wrath of Poseidon, on India. Amphan created a massacre in the state of West Bengal and raged havoc in the state of Odisha (Orissa) in India. Flood everywhere, thousands of trees and houses along with electric poles uprooted, leaving the city of Joy (Kolkata) in darkness full of sad memories.
Well, this was not enough, when another cyclone came in a few months time and again left a shock, this time on the western part of India were states like Maharashtra and Gujarat got effected, even this was not enough, that the month of November gave India another cyclone, which was named NIVAR, this time destructing the southern states of India, precisely Tamil Nadu. Oh and in between another strong typhoon had already devastated Malaysia and adjoining islands.
Specifically for India, the year 2020 had been the worse. India was third largest country to be hit by the pandemic which martyred lot of citizens. The economy started sinking due to months long lock down and then those cyclones again and again took away so much from India. If this was not enough, the Bollywood industry saw a major sad phase with many deaths of eminent artists. Rishi Kapoor, the chocolate boy lost his fight to cancer. Sushant Singh Rajput, a young and rising star was suddenly found dead, hanging in his own house just weeks after his secretary was found dead. Irfan Khan a very versatile actor who even acted in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, left the bollywood industry forever and many others to name. Even the football legend Diego Maradona's soul left his body at the age of 60, giving man kind another hard strike of grief and sadness and that too in the year 2020.
The year 2020 also gave chills to human race by giving us extinction like threats with those huge meteoroids passing by earth. Guess, other years we never heard of so many huge gigantic meteors passing by our planet but 2020 had them ready, and if that is not enough now we all see an unknown monolith in some places, the first was spotted in Utah, USA and the next is found on a private property in Romania, who knows there might be more which would be discovered in the future and who knows if these monoliths are from some other planet put in those specific places by extra terrestrials. The question is are we in the verge of extinction?
However, after all these events man kind has kept faith in GOD and a hope that after every darkness, there will be light. Ah!!! before I end this up, I would like to quote few verses from the Holy Bible and Holy Gita.
The people who work in darkness,Will see a great light,Those who live in a dark land,The light will shine on them.[Isaiah 9:12]
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying,"I am the light of the world, he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness,but will have the light of life."[John 8:12]

It is knowledge, that which is to be known and the goal of knowledge. It especially resides in the hearts of all.

So, friends, let us have faith in the supreme and keep hope that "All is well, when it ends well." Let us welcome this new year 2021 and say good bye to the old year 2020.
