How to make Street Style Chowmein - Chowmin Using Maggi Recipe

Maggi - It is not just a brand name, but an item which everyone loves to eat, be it small kids or elderly people, be it men or women, be it rich or poor. Maggi is found in almost all house hold.

It is easy to cook, it is fast to cook, cools down quickly and can be had anytime of the day. In fact when it comes to noodles that is the first name we get in our tongue or let me put it this way Maggi has replaced the word noodles for most of us.

Another most loved dish is chowmein (also termed as chow mein), though originated from China but now different countries have developed their own ways to make this form of noodles.

They both are my personal favorites apart from pizza. (Will be coming up soon with a How to make Domino's style pizza at home)

If you are from India then you know what is the taste of street style chow mein, with a tweak of Indian masala, we Indians have made our version of chow mein, and I guess it is more tasty and yummy than the original version from China.

You would need few ingredients to make street style Chowmein using maggi.

Ingredients:
  1. 3 Big packet Maggi
  2. 1 Big size green/red/yellow capsicum each
  3. 20 grams paneer (cottage cheese)
  4. 3 Onions
  5. 1 Carrot
  6. 2 Green chilly
  7. 1 small cup of green peas
  8. 1 small cup of cabbage
  9. 2 tbsp green chilly sauce
  10. 1 tsp soya sauce
  11. 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  12. 1/2 tbsp sirka (vinegar)
  13. Black pepper and Salt as per taste
  14. 5 to 6 tbsp Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil (Refine Oil)
  15. 3 pouch of Maggi Taste maker / Maggi masala

Steps to prepare the food:

  • First julienne cut all the vegetables
  • Heat up a bowl or pan
  • Put around 3 to 4 cups of water
  • Once the water starts simmering, put the Maggi in it (Do not break the Maggi and do not add taste maker now)
  • Cook the Maggi to make it just soft (Do not over cook the Maggi to make it soggy)
  • Put a spoon full oil, so that Maggi does not sticks to one another (You can use butter also, if you like)
  • Take out the Maggi, drain the water, wash it under running cold or tap water and put some ice cubes, set it aside
  • Take a pan (WOK is best), put some oil in it and saute all the vegetables except the paneer (cottage cheese)
  • Add black pepper and salt as per taste (TIP: Add little salt as Maggi masala / taste maker and other sauces will have salt in them)
  • Add Maggi
  • Add soya sauce
  • Add green chilly and tomato sauce
  • Add sirka (vinegar)
  • Add Maggi taste maker
  • Stir well, so that everything is mixed properly
  • Add paneer (cottage cheese) now and stir lightly once more

Your street style Maggi Chowmin (Chow mein) is ready to be served.
