5 minutes Curry - Quick Veg Recipe

Nowadays we all are fighting with time, we need time to reach office, but have to reach in time, we need time with our families and we do not have time to spend on our family members, friends or relatives, in this shortage of time we need something which can be made quickly so that it saves our time.

Something that can be quickly cooked and then quickly eaten. NAH!!! am not talking about instant noodles, am talking about complete meal, a side dish that can be made quickly and served with either rice or roti and can be eaten quickly. Let us see what we can use to make a quick vegetable curry or a veg curry.

We would be using Papad along with some boiled veggies to make this quick and fast recipe, however if you have not seen my previous recipe of PAPAD ki SABJI then scroll to the end of the article or tutorial and you will find the link to the same.

Papad is a flat thin bread made of urad dal (white vigna mungo) or moong dal (Indian variety of Lentils). It is generally served with rice as a compliment and can be roasted or fried. The marwari and punjabi community in India are the main stake holder of consuming papad, however you will find the use of papad all over India.


In the southern parts of India papad is known as papadum and is made with maida (all purpose flour) and rice flour, which is then fried before eating, mainly with rice. In general the recipe of papad curry or Papad ki sabji was invented in rajasthan by the marwari community and the marwari cuisine has got different varieties of papad curry recipes. So what are you waiting for, let us see how we can use this papad and some vegetables to make a quick side dish. Let's Begin...


Ingredients & Steps:
Take some vegetables and boil them in pressure cooker.
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 potato
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 onion
  • 1 capsicum

Once boiled, cut them into small dices and keep aside.

In a mixing bowl.
  • Take 4 tbsp curd
  • Add 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Add 2 tsp besan (gram flour)
  • Add 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
  • Add 1/2 tsp dhania powder (coriander powder)
  • Add 1 pinch of salt
  • Add 1 glass water
Mix them well so that there are no lumps.

Now heat up a pan
  • Add 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Add 1 tsp jeera (cumin)
  • Add 1 tej patta (bay leaf)
  • Add 1 pinch of hing (asafoetida)
Roast everything for 1 minute.
  • Add the boiled vegetables
Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Break 3 - 4 papad into small pieces (Use Bikaneri big size papad)
  • Add the papad to the cooking pan
Fry them for 1 minute
  • Add the gravy we had prepared (as above)
Keep steering else the curd could rupture.
Cook until boil.
The gravy will get slightly thickened.
  • Add 1 tsp fine chopped coriander leaf
  • Add 2 tsp fresh cream
Stir only once or twice.
Serving Size: 3 to 4 person.
