Paneer Angara - Recipe

Paneer Angara or Smoky Paneer is a flavorful dish made of paneer (cottage cheese), it is a restaurant style recipe and are found generally in restaurants and dhabas mostly in the northern part of India.

Today without wasting much time we will make this paneer angara recipe right at our home. Let's Begin........



Ingredients & Steps:

  • Take 500g paneer (cottage cheese)

Cut them into medium size cubes and keep it aside.


Take a wok or pan (kadai)

  • Add 30g sunflower oil
  • Add 4g butter
  • Add 1 tbsp jeera (cumin seeds)

Stir and roast for 1 minute

  • Add 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • Add 1/2 tbsp green chilli paste
  • Add salt as per taste
  • Add 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
  • Add 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Add 1 tsp red chilli powder (kashmiri lal mirch - for color)
  • Add 1/2 tsp ajinomoto (MSG)
  • Add 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Add 1/2 tsp tandoori masala
  • Add 2g red chilli sauce
  • Add 2g green chilli sauce
  • Add 3g tomato sauce
  • Add 1 tbsp kasturi methi (dry fenugreek leafs)

Stir and roast all spices properly for 3 - 5 minutes.

  • Add 50g onion paste (boiled onion - grind to form a paste)

Roast for 3 minutes more.

  • Add 50g kaju magaj paste (cashew nuts and watermelon seeds)
  • Add paneer cubes
  • Add 2g desi ghee (clarified butter)
  • Add 2 tbsp coriander leafs (fine chopped)

Cook in low flame for 5 - 10 minutes.
Transfer cooked food in a bowl or container.

  • Add 2 tbsp butter (frozen cubes)
  • Add 1 hot burning charcoal (on top of butter)

Close the container quickly.
Keep it for 1 - 2 minutes, then throw away the charcoal. (This will give a smoky flavor).
