Spinach or Palak is a very healthy food, it has lot of fiber in it. Paneer or Cottage Cheese is a kind of replacement of chicken for vegetarians. Made from milk these are very soft. Easy to cook, and a variety of dishes can be made using paneer.
Tandoori Paneer Tikka, Paneer Tikka Masala, Paneer Butter Masala, Aloo Paneer Paratha, Aloo Paneer, Paneer Sandwich, Paneer Pizza, Palak Paneer, Paneer Pulao, Paneer Paratha and many many more. I have just named a few, have some recipe already in my blog and would be coming up with more recipe and food made with paneer.
Some paneer dishes take lot of time for preparation but mostly most of the paneer dishes are quick and easy to be made. Today let me show you how to make Palak Paneer (Cottage Cheese in Spinach Gravy). Let's Begin........
- Take 2 pc Tomato
- Take 2 pc Onion
- Take 1 clove of Garlic (optional)
- Take 1 kg Palak
- Take 1 to 2 cup water (for boiling)
Put water in pressure cooker
Cut onion, tomato and garlic into half or quater sizes
Grate the palak or chop it
- Add everything in the pressure cooker
- Add 1 tsp salt
- Add 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
Pressure cook until 3 to 4 whistle
When done, take out and stain any remaining left over water
Let it cool down
Once cooled - put all the ingredients in a mixer grinder
Grind it to get a fine paste / puree out of it
On the other hand, take 750 grams of paneer and cut them into square pieces (big or small - your wish, I prefer average size)
- Take 1" ginger finely chopped
- Take 1 strand or clove of garlic finely chopped (optional)
- Add 1 tsp jeera (cumin seed)
- Add chopped ginger and garlic
Cook for 2 to 4 minutes
Once the ginger and garlic starts turning golden brown
Add paneer cubes and sallow fry the paneer on medium heat
When paneer starts turning golden
- Add salt to taste (remember we had added salt in palak paste)
- Add 1 tsp roasted jeera powder
- Add 1 tsp dhania (coriander) powder
- Add 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric) powder
- Add 1 to 2 tsp red chilly powder
- Add 1 tsp kitchen king masala (optional)
Mix well, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes
Turn the flame to high
- Add the palak paste
- Add 1/2 cup milk
- Add 1/2 cup fresh cream
Mix it and cover the lid
Cook it for 10 minutes
Keep checking in intervals and stir it to avoid sticking of palak to kadai
